Let's Bowl Racism Out (Of Cricket)
The Times reports on their front page (not apparently online), and The Telegraph here on taunts made to England bowler Sajid Mahmood in yesterdays match against Pakistan.
The Telegraph says (my phrasing) that taunts of "traitor" came from Muslim fans. Mr Mahmood said (from the article) "It started off pretty light-hearted,... but then it did get a bit personal."
It is reported that Mr Mahmood was born in Bolton to Pakistani parents.
Now I wasn't at the match so I don't know the full context of the chanting and the article tells us that Mr Mahmood joked about it afterwards.
Nevertheless, we are constantly being told (by leftie liberals) that racism is where words or actions are made against a person due to that person's ethnicity and that even light hearted comments are unacceptable. Now I don't think a white cricketer born in Bolton would have been subjected to these taunts from the "Muslim fans", accordingly by the definition of the left this must have been a "racist" incident.
I look forward to seeing leftie calls for strong action to be taken against these "racists", but I suspect somehow I'm going to be disappointed.
