An Observation
The local "news"paper reported fairly often on the knife amnesty:

Of these non amnesty related stories, they represent the total stories I located using their search engine, for a period of one year on the words: knife, knifed, stab, and stabbed. Of the four stories, only one refers to an incident pre-dating the knife amnesty. Perhaps their search engine doesn't work properly, or perhaps there is a slant in the reporting caused by the knife amnesty. Or could it be that somehow the amnesty has "encourged" knife crime?
I wouldn't expect any government grant to ressearch it though.
