Statist Mindset.

The local "news"paper reports at length on a classic non-story here. in brief, basically some residents near a track to an electric sub-station complained about the state of the track (overgrown and litter, so not really their business anyway). The electric company came and cleared it all up, but unfortunately for them, they didn't own the land and the landowner (quite legally and within his rights, and probably quite annoyed by the trespass) has sent workmen to put the path back to its previous state.

Local resident and Royal Mail manager Geoff Hartley, is quoted extensively in the "news"paper:

"It just makes no sense to me. We are now going to have weeds infesting out gardens, and the whole place will go back to being a complete jungle."

Well it's not your land so it's none of your business and it doesn't have to make sense to you.

The paper reports: "...he (Geoff Hartley) parked his car across the path to stop the diggers starting work."

Who does he think he is denying someone their legal access to their land?

"I just wanted a stay of execution to find out what was going on," he said. Well it's none of your business. Do you tell your neighbour every time you do something on your land?

"For all I knew, it was a complete wind up, ..." If so why did you let it bother you?
"... or he could have been going to dig up my garden,..." You mean like you'd caused his land to be dug over perhaps? "...or root around near the sub-station and blow us all up." Not very likely as he'd blow himself up in the process, also just how "explosive" are sub-stations? A poor set of apparatchik efforts to attempt to justify interfering behaviour.

"It's really frustrating because this has all happened without any warning." - It's not your land, no-one has to warn you, mind your own business.

I struggle to understand why people are always trying to interfere in things that don't concern them. Hartley can be seen by his fence overlooking the track. If he doesn't like the track, he can move, he can plant a hedge or put up screens. Why on earth does he let himself get all concerned with soemthing which is none of his business?
