York Football

A depature from the norm here, but ... last night I went to watch York City Football Club play at home to Burton Albion. I'm far from an avid fan, but do tend to see a reasonable number of local matches in a season.

Last night's match was excellent, both sides seemed strong and not unreasonably matched. Both teams played for the game from the outset. York scored first very early, but unlike in the past, this didn't stop them playing for a second goal. Burton Albion didn't let the goal intimidate them. In the second half, Burton equalised, York managed to score again, and again Burton equalised. Finally in the last minutes of the game, and from a free kick given for a sending off offence York managed a third goal and victory.

Burton fans will perhaps think they were unlucky not to get a draw, but it was a hard fought game all the way and both teams did their fans proud. The game was played as it should be. Well done to both teams.
