Gordon Blown Out
The radio informed me this morning that as far as the UK is concerned hurricane Gordon will be a non-event as it has blown itself out.
How very apt I thought, just as Gordon Brown has blown himself out of the leadership of both the Labour Party and the UK, so his namesake hurricane is now no more a force to be reckoned with.
Of course the hurricane has blown itself out before it reached our shores and caused any damage, the chancellor on the other hand has done horrendous damage to the finances of ordinary people and the economy of the country. Of the two the damage from the hurricane would have looked worse on the television, but I'm pretty sure the damage from the chancellor will be far deeper and have a longer lasting effect.
UPDATE the radio may have been wrong as The Times reports some damage to Scotland and Ireland. Still given the choice I'd take the hurricane over the chancellor.
