It's your money we're wasting.

The local "news"paper reports here on a new post being created at our cash strapped local council. The new role called the "director of people and improvement" will carry the burdensome (for York council tax payers) salary of £98,000.00p per annum; although elsewhere in the article it states " ... and taking home a salary of up to £97,800" which presumably means after tax and national (the policy which never pays out) "insurance" in which case the burden to the council taxpayer will be even higher.

Apparently: "That has worried union chiefs at Unison, who ... are concerned at the amount of power the new director will have." Well I'm worried about how much it'll cost me.

"Peter Wegg, York general convenor, said: "We are battling against this. This person will stand alone with no assistant directors. It could be really messy."" With a salary like that, they should give me the job and I'll make sure it's really messy. I'll also ensure that savings of at least ten yes that's right at least ten times the salary are made by the council thus making it true value for money for the council tax payer.

The final ironic quote from the article: "The council said the restructure of the Chief Executive's department had saved £230,000 in salaries." Well now all you have to do is scrap this idea and you've saved £330,000.00p in salaries, shall I invoice you my consulting fee?
