Muslims prepared to fight, Christians surrender.

The Daily Mail reports here on Nottingham's newest cemetery. Apparently, "... all the graves will be aligned to Mecca even though Muslims will take up only a small minority of the burial plots."

Even though the Daily Mail has pointed this out, I must bring to your attention the difference of reporting of the two faiths: "... in accordance with the Muslim belief that the dead look over their shoulder towards Mecca, which lies south-east of Britain." So for the Muslims it's "in accordance with belief", when referring to the Christian: "... gravestones traditionally look east towards Jerusalem, supposedly in anticipation of the second coming of Christ." So just a "tradition" for some "supposed event".

Nottingham council have claimed they all face North East so they can "look tidy". Just a coincidence then eh? Provided they face the same way then they look tidy and it just so happens we have chosen North East. Did they draw it out of a hat? Who do they think they're kidding? It's disgraceful that our public masters so insult our intelligence. First we pay them to oppress us and they can't even do it honestly.

"The council says bodies will be buried facing north-east, unless relatives of the deceased specifically request that other arrangements be made." I'll bet that's one of those policies that's never publicised so unless you specifically know about it, you wont be able to request it. It's not much good finding out about it after the event either and who is going to be thinking of the grave alignment when making funeral arrangements?

Compare and contrast the reactions of two religious leaders whom I presume to be local to the area. First up: "But Reverend David Gray, of St John's Church, Bulwell, said it is unfair for the Christian majority to have to ask to be buried in accordance with their faith." The unsurprising words of surrender from the Church of England. Compare with: "Raza ul-Haq, imam of the nearby Madni Masjid Mosque, said Muslims would back Christians' complaints over the headstones.

He said: 'If it is part of their religion that they should be facing towards somewhere else then we are in support of them. Burial traditions are important. If that is their requirement then we will be supporting the Christians.' "

More fight from the Muslim imam than the Christian reverend over a Christian issue. I suppose David Gray probably thinks it unfair that the Christian majority expect to celebrate Christmas too.
