Tony drags it out

The Times reports here on Tony Blair's latest plans. Apparently he's embarking on a 9 month policy review "to determine the party’s agenda for the next decade."

So anyone who hopes for Tony to be gone soon (i.e. Gordon) is going to be disappointed, there's no way he'll go before the nine month review, unless he sees an advantage to a candidate other than Gordon.

The article says: "Mr Blair appears to have capitalised on the temporary weakness of Gordon Brown... ". Yes that's right Gordon, you should read my blog face it, you've failed, you should have finished Blair off while you had the chance. You let him wriggle and now in a couple of months, chances are he'll finish you off.

The article talks about a potential Blairite successor, and if that's the game Blair's playing (and I personally think it is) then Blair will want Gordon out of the way before his successor takes office.

You may as well write Gordon Brown off now, time and time again he's failed to get rid of Blair, but his latest attempt will have put Blair against him, only one of the two can win, and my money's on Tony. Gordon Brown could well be the longest serving bridesmaid in history.
